Overview

GUDEG MERCON SAGAN offers an authentic taste of Yogyakarta's culinary heritage right in the heart of the city. Specializing in gudeg, a traditional Javanese dish made from young jackfruit stewed slowly with palm sugar and coconut milk, this restaurant delivers a rich and flavorful experience that resonates with both locals and visitors seeking genuine Indonesian cuisine.

Located on Jl. Sagan GK. V No.861, the spot is easy to find in the bustling Terban neighborhood. The intimate, no-frills setting puts the focus squarely on the food, inviting diners to savor the depth of spice and sweetness characteristic of gudeg without distraction.

The main attraction, gudeg mercon, is notably exquisite — combining the signature mild sweetness of gudeg with a fiery kick that elevates each bite. This bold balance reflects the region’s culinary tradition while appealing to those who appreciate nuanced heat in their dishes. Alongside gudeg, the menu features complementary sides like krecek (spicy beef skin) and opor ayam (chicken in coconut milk), rounding out a well-curated meal that stays true to Javanese flavors.

The welcoming atmosphere is perfect for families, food enthusiasts, and cultural explorers alike. It’s a place where the essence of Yogyakarta’s street food culture is preserved and presented in a way that's both accessible and memorable. Whether you’re indulging after a day of sightseeing or seeking a comforting meal, GUDEG MERCON SAGAN offers a genuine and satisfying taste of Indonesia’s culinary soul.

This place is more for takeout, don't imagine it's like a restaurant. They serve a lot of online orders like Gojek, Grab, and Shopee. The online orders are quite busy, and when I came here, they were constantly changing. If you want to eat in, you can; there are seats available, but they're limited. I personally tried eating in. The gudeg is delicious, savory, the firecrackers are really spicy, and they also have cassava leaves. So, it's like they're selling it in a garage. The location is a bit tucked away in an alley, not on the main road; if you follow the map, you won't get lost.

Buy it through GoFood, it's delicious, no need to bother leaving the hotel. The Gudeg Mercon is really delicious, the spiciness is really strong, this is the only one that suits my tongue, which doesn't really like sweet food. Thank you, I hope it sells well and becomes more famous, so that when I go to Jogja again I can buy it again

For 14,000 Rupiah, you get eggs, tofu, krecek, and even rice. Wow, this is really cheap. It's delicious. If you like it spicy, the tempeh mercon is really good.

My boss bought me some gudeg, but I don't actually like gudeg because it's too sweet. This gudeg was quite good, perhaps helped by the spicy krecek mercon. But after a while, the gudeg got a bit nauseating, hehe. But that's okay, for those of you who like gudeg and like it spicy, you can give it a try.
